You’ve invested thousands of dollars in lawn, trees and shrubs. An automated lawn irrigation system is cheap insurance that protects your landscaping investment. In the long run, a drought can cost you a lot more in replacing dead plants or renovating a lawn that has succumbed to weeds. On the upside, landscapes that are watered regularly grow twice as fast – increasing your return on investment through curb appeal sooner.
Watering by hand is an inefficient and wasteful way to water. A properly calibrated irrigation system is a good water conservation strategy. Giant Landscaping ’s state-of-the-art irrigation systems always include a programmable controller and rain sensor. Our irrigation techs will show you how to use your irrigation controller and can recommend zone run times and start times that work best for your yard.
New water smart technology delivers the exact amount of water needed. There are irrigation heads available today that can save as much as 30% more water than traditional irrigation heads.

Another option for water conservation is an on-site smart sensor from Hunter Industries called “Solar Sync.” Solar Sync sensor measures the “evapotranspiration” (ET) rate – that is, how fast moisture is evaporated – and turns your irrigation controller into a smart controller, automatically adjusting watering times based on daily weather conditions. It even shuts off the system when temperatures reach 37° to avoid frost damage!
Solar Sync can be installed on new irrigation systems or retrofitted to many existing ones. Municipal water departments in some parts of the country have rebate programs for irrigation systems that use water smart technology. Irrigation systems in New Hampshire irrigation do not fall under any rebate programs as of yet; however, if you use a municipal water supply, and are connected to town sewer, you can have a deduct meter installed that does not charge you sewer fees for the water used on your irrigation system.
We design our zones according to the water needs of each zone. We recommend drip irrigation for shrubs and flowerbeds. Drip irrigation is especially useful for window boxes and flowerpots. Drip irrigation puts the water directly in soil, eliminating evaporation and over-spray.
We design our systems according to your budget. If you can’t afford to irrigate your entire property, we will size an irrigation system properly for adding on the zones in the future as your budget allows. It looks like we are heading into a dry summer. Call us at Giant Landscaping and protect your landscaping investment today!
