Complete Lawn Care Services in Southern New Hampshire
Without a doubt, curb appeal is the best way to increase your real estate value in southern New Hampshire. And the best way to boost your curb appeal is with a healthy, well-manicured lawn. At Giant Landscaping, we recognize the value that complete lawn care services brings to homeowners – that’s why we have been doing it since day one.
We provide these lawn care services to both residential and commercial clients who either don’t have a green thumb or the time to invest in accomplishing the goal of a lush green lawn.
There are three key areas of successful lawn maintenance:
1. Weekly Lawn Mowing
Keeping up with cutting the grass when you only have a weekend to do it can be stressful for both you and the lawn. The cool season turf grasses in New Hampshire grow fast in the spring and fall and can be cut shorter then; however, in the summer they are subject to heat stress and should be cut higher. Mower blades should be sharp to avoid fungus growth.
For the best results, lawn mowing should be done consistently.
Our weekly lawn mowing services include:
- Trimming the tall grass growing along all borders and bed edges
- Mowing the grass at the correct height for the season using well-maintained equipment
- Blowing grass clippings off the driveway and all walkway areas
2. Core Aeration and Overseeding
The downside to a thick vigorous lawn is that it can begin to choke itself out. Frequent mowing builds up thatch and the spreading root systems prevent aerobic bacteria from doing its job. The solution to this is to punch holes in the turf and add fresh grass seed. This is called core aeration and over-seeding.
At Giant Landscaping, we provide this lawn renovation service in the fall when weed competition is reduced. Since the turf roots are opened up, this is also an ideal time to apply fertilizer to help the new seed take root quickly.
Is your lawn beyond saving? It’s possible. Giant Landscaping can help you there too!
3. Lawn Irrigation Services
It is very difficult to have a lush green lawn all season without the correct amount of water. Lawns can brown out from either underwatering or overwatering. On average, a lawn needs two inches of water per week to stay green – which doesn’t often happen in the summer here. During the summer, watering too often or overnight can cause a fungus to spread, resembling drought. The solution is to have a properly calibrated lawn irrigation system.
At Giant Landscaping, we provide a full range of lawn irrigation services for existing systems:
Spring Startups – In May our technicians will turn on the sprinkler system, running through each zone to check for leaks and/or head adjustment and repair those issues if needed.
System Calibration – adjusting your irrigation controller to fine-tune the watering needs of your lawn. This could be based on sun/shade areas or alternating days and run times to prevent fungus. System calibration services can be provided as a service call or during your Spring Startup.
Irrigation Repairs and Add-Ons – Sometimes older irrigation systems need some upgrading to make them more efficient. This could be as simple as adding a rain sensor or changing out heads to provide better coverage. Adding a drip zone to planting beds saves water and greatly improves plant growth.
I have used several landscaping companies over the 37 years I have lived here, and Giant Landscaping is the best I have ever had. I would highly recommended them especially if you are particular about your yard as I am.
