There is nothing in the landscape that says “community” more than a brick walkway or patio. A walkway invites visitors to your door. A patio gives a place at your home for family and friends to gather in an outdoor setting. Our hardscaping crew installs brick paver patios and walkways – as well as pool decks – that will withstand the test of time.
Done right the first time. There’s a reason why they call it “hardscaping.” It’s not easy to do it right! Taking shortcuts on the base preparation (or any step along the way) can mean settling or sinking, and ultimately having to pull up the bricks and start over. A cheap price from a brick walkway installer could mean skipping PVC edge restraints, causing the new walkway edges to roll – or using stone dust as a base instead of the proper two-layer method of processed gravel and sand underneath the brick pavers.
If a brick walkway installer tells you he’s always used stone dust and has never had a problem, check the references! Ask to see a job they have done that is several years old. Or better yet – just walk away!
Giant Landscaping’s installs patios using accepted industry standard practices from The International Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI.) Base preparation and compaction are the critical elements of building a walkway that lasts. For more information on proper walkway construction, check out this cross-section diagram. A quality hardscape may cost a little more, but it does cost a lot less than doing it over.
